I need to open this weeks post with a thank you. It was amazing to see the outpouring of appreciation this week. The daily showing of respect from students and parents alike is remarkable. Thank you.
We have reached the end of our D.A.M. project. All of our designs have been revised and constructed. To conclude our time together, each group is preparing a presentation for their design. It is fascinating to see the variety of thinking and problem solving used with these fish ladder alternative. All of the projects will be on display for our PBL showcase June 4th.
The last step in publishing our information articles was coming up with a cover. We compared different covers of Harry Potter from around the world. Then we discussed what main idea the author was trying to convey. After plotting the different features on a chart, students created their article cover. I’m pretty happy with what they came up with. Feel free to stop by and check out our published articles.

In preparation for the SBAC we reviewed essential topics such as subtraction, multiplication, division, area and perimeter. My favorite project was having students measure their desks. Using these measurements, they calculated the perimeter and area of their table. Altogether, it was a great way to review two concepts with hand’s on learning.
Important information: Part two of the SBAC is next week. We also will have our field trip May 13th. Permission slips are heading out now. Lastly, we will be having a writer’s celebration on May 13th around 2:45 to showcase our expert articles.
