The Jog-A-Thon was our big event for the week. All week long students were putting their finishing touches on the class banner. Check out the process below. A big thanks to Kristina for helping us outline our ideas. Along with our Explorer's rocket and Betty Bison, we have twenty-five planets representing each student.
It was a wert run but everyone had a great time. A lot of effort and hard work was put in. The photos speak for themselves.
In reading we learned new methods for monitoring comprehension of nonfictions texts. Throughout the week we explored different articles on butterflies, polar bears and zebras. Here are some pics of students using their strategies to answer some tough questions on polar bears.
After a few weeks of working hard and developing our craft as writers, we have a final product. Our personal narratives are published and up! Feel free to stop in and check them out. We have quite a variety of stories.
We also began our author study on Chris Van Allsburg. So far we've read The Wretched Stone, Just a Dream, and The Mysteries of Harris Burdick. Students have been collecting notes on Mr. Van Allsburg's style and tone. Soon we will begin our own stories inspired by Chris Van Allsburg.
Lastly, our Wisconsin Fast Plants have been earning their reputation as a fast plant. Students have continued to record their plants growth cycle. Many have begun to notice the plants are in the midst of a growth spurt. Likewise, many are starting to show buds. Wonder what will happen next?
Halloween is coming up. Look for more information on the party soon.
Thats all for this week!
