However, our biggest project was the poetry slam. It was a huge success and everyone was so excited to present. Leading up to the slam we did a lot to prepare ourselves. We studied different slam poets online and shared what poetry looks, sounds and feels like. Using these ideas, we created our own rubrics for evaluation. Every student filmed him or herself reciting their poetry on the iPad’s. We watched our readings and used our rubric as a means of self-improvement. This ended up being a great way to integrate technology, literature and public speaking.
