Wanted to open things by saying thank you to everyone who made it out to curriculum night! If you missed it, I've posted the powerpoint here:

This week we continued our PBL work on maps and seasons. Along with learning about how to use a grid and read longitude/latitude lines, we finished our first grid art project. Take a look at Betty Bison.
Meanwhile, our young authors continue to cultivate story ideas. Below is a look at writers performing "heart surgery". Students take a forgotten story and cut out the heart of their idea for a new lead.
In addition, students got to see first hand how a writer revises and improve upon on their work. We had graphic novelist Kazu Kibuishi give a talk on his series "Amulet". Inspiring stuff to say the least.
That's it for this week. I've begun sign ups for conferences. So be sure to email me and set up a time. Lastly, picture day is coming up! Don't forget to get those envelopes in by October 2nd.
Thanks

Three Questions:
1. What do staples have to do with estimation?
2. What is storyboarding?
3. What zone are you in today?
